On last weeks, Ring of Honor Women’s Division Wednesday, a dream match occurred.
Apparently, a lot of other viewers have been dying to see this match as well, because the head of the women division, Maria Kannellis stated that this was a matchup that has been demanded for awhile now.
‘The Afropunk’ Trish Adora and the ‘Kick Demon’ Janai Kai are such strong forces in the wrestling world. So it would only make sense to see these two tornadoes collide.
Trish Adora comes to the ring with her normal confident stride. Even as Janai creeps to the ring, Adora shows no sign of being intimidated. Adora even wears a smirk on her face as she looks over her competition.
These women possess similar styles, so the women have to be smart about their offense. A few kicks to the shin from Janai Kai starts the match. Both women thinks that it is a good idea to put on a hedlock on, but Trish is smart to get Kai down to the mat with a double leg take down and puts on a double wrist lock.
Kai turns it around and puts on a wrist lock and hammer lock. Trish shows a bit of veteran arrogance as she continuously gets out of all of Janai’s counters.
Kai starts to take over with some blows to Adora’s face using the palm of her hand. She’s smart to use her marital arts skills when needed and gets back to some wrestling moves when appropriate.
The wrist lock driver that Trish delivers really knocks Janai out for a minute.
Throughout this match, it was proven that both women would continue to find a way to pull out of any hold, any submission, and shake off any strike. Never give up was certainly the mentality.
Janai keeps it coming with some vicious kicks to the face and abdomen of Adora. You start to wonder if that would be enough for Kai to take the win.
Yet, this seems to only fuel Adora to come back stronger. To be nastier, bolder and vicious in the match up.
Some deadly knees and a hell of a Lariat Tubman FINALLY takes Janai Kai out.
Even though Janai lost, you can see the wear and tear that this match left on Trish Adora. Ever the professional, Trish shakes the hand of Janai and shows her respect for this upcoming star.
After seeing this match, it’s a bit saddening to not know the next stage for the ring of honor women’s division.
These women put on a clinic of a match. They could’ve even helped to usher in the Pure women’s division in the company.
However, as uncertainty looms over the company, whose to say how this new year would look for ROH.
One thing is for sure, you can’t take your eyes off of Janai Kai or Trish Adora as they are showing what possibilities are there for women’s wrestling and how far they can help to take the women division even further.
