Open Letter to Big Swole

Mrs.Lark

Updated: Jan 5, 2022

Thank Big Swole,

Thank you for being a constant advocate for your community. You were one of the women who decided that black women needed to feel included in this wrestling world and included in the conversation of diversity, long before it became popular to say so.

You didn’t care if your morals caused a rift between you and others. The ability to sleep at night knowing that your daughter could feel the importance of seeing women that look like her and other females around her mattered more.

You understand how damaging and mentally confusing it could be, to have a new set of black girls walk into another decade feeling that there is only one black women on a roster and that said women never gets the be seen as a worthy champion.

Thank you for putting your life on the line in the squared circle, even when you are still battling with a Crohn’s disease. That struggle doesn’t go unnoticed by your fans.

We love to cheer you on for all of your accomplishments during the years.

Whether it be holding the phoenix on the rise championship in 2019 and Bull Nakano proudly holding your hand in the ring.

Having a stellar run as tag team champs with Aja Perera and Ayla Fox as your manager in Shine. Black girl magic was real with you three!

The crowd was totally with you during your match in the second Mae Young classic tournament.

We supported your evolution as you ascended and made it clear that you would now be called Big Swole and tear it up in AEW. Your feud with Britt Baker helped to put steam into the womens division and kept us tuned in.

The chemistry that you and Diamanté had in your feud was something that womens wrestling fans have been clamoring for in the promotion. You both deserved to have had a climax to your storyline on Dynamite. However, we still held this pairing in high regards.

We thank you for showing what real, supportive, unwavering black love is like with you and your husband Cedric Alexander. That representation matters too.

Whether you are rocking braids, locs or a beautifully colored Mohawk, we rock with you 100%.

Before being a wrestling fan and huge supporter of all kinds of women in the business, I am a black women first. I will continue to stand in solidarity with black women that puts their community needs before their own and cover you with a shield of love and truth.

Your bravery and honesty is admired by us at Womens Wrestling Talk. #ThankYouBigSwole
