Halloween Havoc: Night One

The end of October is upon us and we are gifted with one of my favorite PPVs of the year, Halloween Havoc!

Scarlett Bordeaux and Shotzi Blackheart set the tone for this special Halloween themed night of NXT. With the opening of the show, Shotzi channels Hell Raisier’s Pin head and Scarlett takes a shot at the the French arisocrats, as she becomes Marie Antoinette with a broken neck.

With these women as host, you can see why it was worth tuning in to this first night of Halloween Havoc.

We also get another segment with Shotzi coming out as Edward Scissorhand and Scarlett as a sexy Vampire to spin the wheel for the men's tag team match.

Let’s not forget their look as creepy twins to confront Carmelo Hayes, to tell him that the cards show, that he did indeed attack Trick Williams

With this hosts setting up the scene for the night, let's look at the incredible women's matches on this night.

Roxanne Perez vs Kiana James Devil’s Playground Match

The devils playground match is decked with all of the childhood outdoors games that you can think of. Roxanne comes out with a Freddy Krueger themed attire for the night. Both women really take it to each other.

Quickly this match is taken outside as with a back and forth between who gets to keep power. Kiana really gains control when she wraps Roxanne’s hand with a chain and uses a thrash can to the gut of Perez. But Roxanne prevails. Kiana takes a hard blow and develops a huge knot on her forehead. Pop Rocks finisher on the loaded bag of Kiana James gets the win. Perez proved that she is one step ahead of James.

Kelani Jordan vs Ariana Grace

Kelani comes out donning an amazing Gwen Stacy inspired outfit for the night and Ariana enters the ring with all pagentry that we can stand. Jordan takes the lead early on. This lead Ariana to get out the ring to turn the table as both women come back into the ring before being counted out. Ariana feels confident as she uses the ropes to choke Kelani. She does a great job of not letting up on Jordan. Ariana puts Kelani in a chokehold, but the fans rooting Jordan on brings her out of the hold to make a comeback. A bit of back and forth makes it hard to determine who will win, but a split legged moonsault gets Kelani the win and the ability to move up to the the finals next week.

Blair Davenport vs Gigi Doblin Lights out match

The great costuming tonight continues with Gigi mirroring a Beetle juice theme for her attire. Davenport comes out with an IT inspired look that shows how cold and calculated she truly is.

The lights go out in this match, which certainly can be dangerous, but both women seem to embrace this stipulation. Both women go outside of the ring early on utilize the steps as Blair attempts to stomp on Gigi’s head. Gigi smartly moves away and takes control of the match after she jumps off the ring ramp onto Blair with a double knee assault to Davenport’s upper body. Gigi grabs a chair and bring the action back to the ring. Blair regains her composure and uses the chair to choke Gigi. Blair is not done yet as she brings in a kendo stick to weaken Gigi’s abdomen. Doblin is a tough cookie and goes to get a table to raise the stakes in this match. Blair counters Gigi’s attacks and brings more weapons into the ring. However, Gigi has time to recover and gets a leather belt and attempts to whip Blair. Blair gets time to regroup and once again goes under the ring to get more weapons. A table that she sets on the outside. The time that Blair takes allows Gigi to recover and throw Blair into the trash bin straight on her back. Davenport won’t let these brutal attacks keep her down because she throws Doblin into the table at ringside to get the win.

Lola Vice vs Karmen Petrovic

Both women come into this semi final match knowing that they could be one step closer to being in the finals with Kelani Jordan. So the pressure is on. Karmen immediately comes in hot and delivers some vicious kicks to Lala. Vice isn’t someone to take lightly, as she gains her bearings and takes control of the match. Petrovic delivers more kicks, but doesn’t get the pin that she wants. Karmen also takes the bait and becomes distracted by Elektra Lopez whose at ringside. A round house kick from Lola gets her the win for the night and a chance to advance to the finals.

Becky Lynch vs Lyra Valkyria : NXT Women’s Championship match

After a great buildup to this match, the time has arrived for Lyra to step into the ring with her hero.

Valkyrie doesn’t just want to be in the ring with Becky, she wants to be better. The crowd is split between both women. You can see why during this match when Lyra has a counter to every hold or maneuver that Becky Lynch puts on. You can see that for a split second, it shakes up Becky. But this only last for a second as Becky delivers some quick as lighting maneuvers that takes the energy out of Lyra for a minute. This match goes outside of the ring when Valkyria delivers a stiff kick to Lynch on the ropes. Putting this matchup back in her hands, but does not give Lyra the win. An impressive modified stunner almost spells the end for Lyra, but she hangs on. A series of pin attempts by both women doesn’t give them what they want. Becky starts to show frustration with not being able to make Lyra tap. Lyra remains hopeful and still pushes through. Even when Becky delivered an amazing a manhandle slam, Lyra still kicked out. Talk about a warriors spirit. Becky Lynch tries to get another slam in, but Lyra counters it to get a quick pin and gets the win. To the surprise of everyone in attendance.
